Mehandi is a timeless pre-wedding Indian tradition. This age-old ritual involves the   application of intricate Henna designs on the bride & groom hands and feet. It is a festive occasion marked by music and dance,creating an atmosphere of anticipation and joy in preparation for the wedding ceremony.

 

Day – 2

Date – January 27 th Saturday, 2024

 Event 1 – Viradham / Jata-namakarma and Pandakkal

Time –      8:30 AM

Venue –   Chomu Palace

This event is comprised of the Viradham, also known as “Vratham,” which is a religious vow or observance in the South and the Seemant or Simant Pooja. During these events both families will perform ceremonies to invoke the blessings of their respective family’s ancestors and deities, and welcome each other’s families to the ceremonies.

Event 2 – Discourse by Sri Dushyant Sridhar on The topic Sita Kalyanam ( Wedding of Lord Rama to Goddess Sita)

Time –     10:00 AM to 12:00 PM

Venue –   Chomu Palace

Dushyant Sridhar is a renowned Indian speaker, scholar, and storyteller known for his expertise in Indian mythology, culture, and spirituality. He has given numerous lectures and talks on various aspects of Hinduism, mythology, and the Bhagavad Gita. Alongside this narration of Sita Kalyanam, he will explain the importance and relevance of Hindu rituals during this discourse. His work has garnered a significant following, especially among those interested in Indian philosophy and spirituality as he explains complex philosophical and spiritual concepts in a simple, riveting, and relatable manner.

Event 3 – Haldi

Time –     12:00 PM

Venue –   Chomu Palace

Dress influence : Traditional wear of vibrant shades of yellow & orange

The Haldi ceremony is a cherished pre-wedding tradition that adds color, vibrancy, and cultural significance to Indian weddings. It symbolizes the love and blessings bestowed upon the bride and groom by their families and marks the beginning of their journey into married life.

Family members and close friends take turns applying the Haldi paste to the bride’s and groom’s face, neck, hands, and feet. The application of Haldi is believed to cleanse and beautify the skin while symbolizing blessings for auspiciousness.

 

Event 4-  Janavassm/Baarat – Sangeet

Time –     5:30 PM

Venue –   Samode Bagh

Dress influence : Indian Traditional Attire

Meet by pool side for cocktails and Safa (Headgear) .

Janavasam : Janavasam, also known as Mappillai (Groom) Azhaippu (invite), is a lively parade, where the groom is taken on a vibrant procession that culminates at the wedding venue.

Sangeet : The Sangeet ceremony typically begins with musical, instrumental or dance performances. Family members, friends, professional musicians or dancers entertain the guests with a fun mixture of traditional songs, folk songs, and Bollywood music.
